Visit to the Kawumu Tannery factory
The Ministry staff led by the Comissioner BDQA Dr Joshua Mutambi accompanied a COMESA delegation for incredible visit to the Kawumu Tannery, a government owned state-of-the-art leather factory in Kawumu village, Luweero district. Kawumu Tannery was established with the following objectives which include adding value to leather, substituting the importation of leather products into the country and to promote exports of leather products.The craftsmanship and attention to detail of the workers was truly impressive. The Uganda Manufacturers Association held its 28th Uganda International Trade Fair, the first in two years, following the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. The UMA 28th Uganda International Trade Fair started on 3rd to 10th October 2022 under the theme, “Business recovery by harnessing local sourcing and deepening value chains integration” at UMA Show Grounds. The 74th plenary of the UN General Assembly, on April 6, 2017, adopted the resolution to observe June 27 as the Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Day or MSME Day. Africa Industrialization Day 2021 Commemorated
On Friday 19th November 2021 Uganda led by Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives commemorated the African Industrialization day. Under the theme “Inclusive and sustainable Local Manufacturing”. National Entrepreneurship Strategy(NES) planning workshop Held
The National Planning Workshop for Designing the National Entrepreneurship Strategy(NES) took place from 15-17th September 2021 at Protea hotel Kampala Skyz.The workshop was attended by Micro Small Medium Enterprises(MSMEs) officials of the Ministry of Trade,Industry and Cooperatives,UNCTAD,NITA and other organizations.It had both a physical and online attendance (zoom) to respect the SOPs put in place.
