Hon. Gume Fredrick Ngobi Commissions Kigezi Growers Cooperative Unions’ Building in Rukungiri

The Minister of State for Cooperatives, Hon. Gume Ngobi Fredrick, has this morning presided over the commissioning of a commercial building of Kigezi Growers Cooperative Union in Rukungiri Municipality, Rukungiri district.

Hon. Gume urged the group to ensure accountability and transparency of Union funds, proper utilization of War Loss Claims compensation, and diversification in other non-traditional crops.

The Chairman of Kigezi Cooperative Union, Didas Mugisha, thanked Government through the State Minister for Cooperatives, Hon. Gume Fredrick Ngobi for part compensation of 3 billion shillings the group received recently for property lost during the NRA war.

Kigezi Cooperative Union is an agricultural processing and marketing union registered on 13th November 1961. The group is a traditionally coffee business union. It currently has 27 active Primary Societies out of the original 71 within the Kigezi sub-region.
