CALL FOR PROPOSALS

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives has been implementing the Rural Industrial Development Project (RIDP) since 2017/18 as a tool to promote value addition to agro based value chains and other raw materials with a comparative advantage. Through this project, the Ministry supports rural communities organized under Cooperative Societies or Associations with equipment for value addition; training in business management & value addition skills and principles of cooperative movement and certification of their products through UNBS.

The Ministry is now calling for proposals from potential Cooperative Societies to seek for support under the Rural Industrial Development Project. The following are the requirements for an enterprise to qualify for support under this Project;

  • The enterprise should be registered as a Cooperative Society or ready to transform into a Cooperative Society
  • The enterprise should have a business plan and management structure
  • The surrounding community must be involved in production of the proposed raw material for value addition
  • The production quantities of the proposed raw material should be sufficient to merit the need for processing machinery and equipment
  • The enterprise should have the potential to create employment
  • The enterprise should have a building where the required value addition machinery and equipment will be installed (Connected to power and water supply)
