Cooperatives Day 2017

On first July, 2017 Uganda will join the rest of the world to commemorate the 95th ICA International Cooperative Day / 23rd UN International Day of Cooperatives. The United Nations’ (UN) International Day of Cooperatives is observed on the first Saturday of July each year.

The aim of the commemorating the day is:

  • Underscore the contribution of the cooperative movement to the resolution of major problems addressed by the United Nations.
  • Increase awareness on cooperatives
  • Strengthen and extend the partnerships between the international cooperative movement and other actors including governments, at local, national and international level.

The theme for this year is INCLUSION and the Slogan is Cooperatives ensure no body is left behind.

In Uganda the national venue for the celebrations is Mbale Cricket Grounds and the Host Union is Bugisu Cooperative Union Ltd.
