CONSTRUCTION OF LWAKHAKHA BORDER EXPORT ZONE LAUNCHED

State Minister for Trade,Hon Michael Werikhe Kafabusa launched the construction of the long awaited central market at Lwakhakha Border Export Zone.
The market will help increase its export base in the region but also enable Uganda benefit from its strategic link within the region.
The site is over 89.3 acres and will house components like; storage facilities, parking yards, Various Offices,Clearing and Forwarding , a health Unit and a display section of what Uganda has to offer.
The construction will be undertaken by  African Construction Technicians and Contractors (U)Ltd with supervision from Global Trust Consults.The project is expected to be done in the next 5 months.
In His remarks,Hon. Micheal Werikhe revealed that the border export zone will lead to increased flow of trade between Uganda and Kenya, lead to innovation and generate employment opportunities to the many women and youth who are major players in cross border trade.He urged everyone to utilize the BEZ to further improve  trade relations with Kenya.

  • Dairy products
  • Fruits and vegetables
  • Poultry products
  • Cereals
  • Art and crafts
